This piece is absolutely gorgeous.

I can't think of how to describe the effect in words without it being totally off, but here goes: It reminds me of those gorgeous sunset photos where the sun is so overwhelming that parts of the image that would be black against the light - the silhouettes of trees, buildings, or other solid objects - are instead brown or some other dark color. In other words, where there is no black or very sharp blacks and where shadows don't have quite so much contrast despite being the same color as the background. The anatomy and use of light is simply wonderful.

I've never seen such accomplished stencil works before.

"only" 7 layers?!! seriously? with all these colours my first guess would have been at least 12-15layers!
You amaze me with every single deviation. There is so much I need to learn.

i never class a different colour as a different layer, as it all represents the same tone. thanks for the kind words mate

Its amazing how lifelike they look, you did a fantastic job. How do you cut your stencils, with a knife or a burning pen?

with a knife mate, always

Right on, thats a lot of hard work. I've always used a knife though my work has been much simpler. Someone recently suggested a different cutting tool though and I was curious. thanks

I love your work.
Such attention to detail. I wish I could recreate stencils like this.
The fine lines for feather detail is what sells it for me.

That's alright sir.
I just use the 'cutout' filter in Photoshop. What's your approach?

I enter and sell stencils in the Australian Stencil Art Prize, there's a global version coming next year. [link]
I thought I'd tell you because you're a contender to win it or at least sell some.
